For all our sakes don't let the pro assisted dying camp read this.....I've read "never let me go" and this is just as chilling. That novel haunted me for years. This piece perfectly encapsulates what assisted dying is really all about. Getting rid of the useless eaters.
Chilling. I have always said state sponsored murder is away to avoid them having to pay anything for our old age. Tidying us away is a good analogy too.
Phillip Nitzchke the Australian doctor of death has just such a pod but it has malfunctioned a few times, failing to do its job.
But I am relieved to be 73 having passed the magic age.
I expect the Convid vaccines were marketed heavily to the aged, the infirm and the disabled to hasten their demise. And yet no one thought it was curious that the politicians and judiciary exempted themselves.
Hard for me to press the "like" button, because obviously not a likeable notion, but click I did, because this is where parts of Brave New World (the capsules being fired off) meet Soylent Green... there was a meme doing the rounds during the Unmentionable Times (2020-22), of bookshops relabelling the science fiction & fantasy sections as history or politics, and my favourite acronym MOFA "Make Orwell Fiction Again". Sadly, it hasn't stopped and the sh1tt3ry is relentless. It really does seem like we are the carbon whose footprint they are trying to reduce.
We seem to be living in an increasingly Godless age. It may not a human belief issue.
Smug atheists secure in their certainty that all is known or knowable. There is no room left for any faith, blind or otherwise.
The question of whether to believe in God or not is insignificant. The proper area of enquiry is to simply ponder whether God believes in humanity.
The awful thing is that once God is dismissed humans are left in complete control. That’s an horrific prospect.
Dictatorial totalitarianism will result. Dystopian certainties will slot into place with a boot stamping on a human face—forever.
Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?
Maybe God has forsaken humanity in despair at the profligate abuse of free will.
I have always had a sneaking suspicion that most people are more than the sum of their parts. There is the indefinable mystery within humanity that gives hope.
The problem is that some are less than the sum of their parts and think that absolute rationality is necessary.
As is so often opined today... What could possibly go wrong?
As some character or other in the fictitious, made-up, fabulous, fairy-tale Bible says: "They who hate Me love death."
Funnily enough, I increasingly seem to notice that everyone who disparages/ridicules the God-character of the Bible are very warm on abortion, human embryo-experimentation, invitrio-fertilisation, surrogacy and (euphemism alert) "assisted dying"... aka MAID, etc.

I thought the same. The death cult can be so vehement.

May you all live long and blessed lives.

Premature deaths and infirmities are happening across the world.

Horrifying end times lay ahead, nothing dignified or celebratory, just do as you're told, pop off we have no use for you now!
It’s very scary that life is about being useful these days. Not about being or living.
Excellent 👌🏼
By a strange coincidence, I am just watching a DW documentary on YouTube, on German Hospices, called "Final Days full of Hope".
Logan's Run II
Very droll!. And did not realise you were a sociologist or historian. Well done.
Chilling!

Easy to kill if you think like that.
