By the way, lockdowns don’t work. Not because of the recent Johns Hopkins study. We’ve had a hundred prior studies, from summer 2020, all saying the same thing. And they don’t work because AT is irrelevant, so little transmission occurs in the community. Instead it’s mostly in hospitals, care homes etc.
Bottom lines: the politicians & SAGE advisors locked down the world, on & off, for over 18months, and the lied about it being essential.
They knew it too.
Nothing at all was needed. Just stay home if you’re sick.
Then the kicker. They knew what they were doing had no possible benefit they the people they imposed them upon.
And scores of countries did the same, all at the same time.
These measures were imposed despite the public health experts knowing they were useless AND suffered for no upside.
They are fake & totally different from usual pandemic preparedness plans, all of which were discarded. For no good reason.
This could ONLY have been done through supranational agreement. Call it a conspiracy. Nothing theoretical about it.
Now: to pause the worlds economy, FOR NO GOOD REASON, must have required the approval of the owners of Uber capital & assets.
Ask yourself why they would agree this.
It cannot be about money. These Uber capital owners sit atop the very money creation process in the central & private banks.
I don’t think it’s about ‘ordinary’ levels of control, because they already have that, too.
I can’t find any benign motive for this. It’s extremely disturbing. Because what we’re facing is the installation of a totalitarian control system.
Consider why they insisted on jabbing people not at risk? Recovered people should NOT receive vaccines. This is absolutely established to be both unnecessary & more dangerous. It’s reckless endangerment.
Why jab children? They are not at risk. Yet they might be harmed. This is hideous. Dangerous. Evil.
Why jab pregnant women? They too are young & not at unusual risks. Certainly not sufficient to justify ignoring a 60 year old absolutely solid rule : you never, ever expose pregnant women to experimental medical treatments. Not ever. And triply so in the absence of reproductive toxicology. We have zero data to show this is safe. Don’t do it. At all. The lies of the Royal Colleges should land them on charges of lying to the public.
But step back again. WHY DID THEY DO THIS AT ALL?
And all the BS about “vaccine passports”. Vaccinated people aren’t lower risk to be around. There is ZERO justification for them. Yet there’s no question whatsoever that they’re being used to fractionate society, to wrongly regulate access to their own lives.
Someone’s got to shove back, REALLY HARD on this right now. Because these evil people will do it again.

I'm waiting to see if my family and friends who have been lockdown/mask/vaccine zealots will acknowledge their mistakes, faulty reasoning and thoughtless bandwagon jumping as the evidence builds that all these silly measures achieved nothing but harm. But they so far refuse to contemplate what has happened. The most obvious fact, that the vaccines didn't work is ignored (many of them got covid despite being "fully vaccinated), and it didn't particularly enable them to travel. What I hope, is that criminal charges are brought against Pfizer, the FDA and CDC. I think only in America can this battle for truth be won, and I hope eventually to get just a few apologies from people who scoffed at my opposition to the measures, almost right from the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020.

Excellent article. "The danger is that the more unrelated individuals are, the more consolidated the State becomes, and vice versa." -this is something I hadn't thought of but strikes a true note. What in times past interconnected communities would have done for each other, now falls to the government as we have little relation with or dependence on others. Here in Canada the freedom movement has put much emphasis on building communities and a parallel society to try to restore that interhuman dependence and reduce that we've had on the government.
"Religion didn't save us" - no, but for so many of us, me included, faith in Jesus did. He's the same regardless of the utterly appalling dereliction of duty of much of the church - not all of it, thankfully.
This is a really good point. I have absolute faith in peoples ability to mount an organic response and grassroots support. Ground up not top down ersatz ‘fake’ solidarity.

I’m sure you are aware of the upcoming threat facing individual human rights in the UK:
Foremost the State vs. The individual. The more the state interferes in our lives, the more damage is done and to more and more individuals. There simply are no ‘one size fits all solutions’.
Secondly the Global communication network. Communication travels at lightning speed and is simplified, not nuanced. And everyone thinks they know the truth, and somehow it appears debate is impossible. Groupthink and ad hominum attacks are becoming the norm rather than the exception.
And the communication can be manipulated as you have shown in your book ‘State of Fear’.
Politicians wanting to be re-elected, appear to manipulate and/or follow the groupthink.
Overall a dangerous mix.
Not sure how this is solved.

A really great in depth piece, thank you Laura. I would add a few things though. The modellers are arrogant and genuinely useless they are running SIR models with fixed parameters when AI techniques like neural network elucidated latent states or full LSTM/transformers (AI basically) modelling are used in other industries for such complex time series data now. All the divisions are still there bubbling under the surface and a lot of the programming to do with the situation in Ukraine feels a lot like COVID. As you say the majority of people don’t wish to actively be evil but want to maintain their neat little lives in what they think is the status quo. It brings to mind “…pleasant people made the best Nazis…” and it takes an effort to actively fight for things like bodily autonomy and having people dislike you for it. I mean I have a relative that works for the NHS that was recently openly stating in social media that the unvaccinated should be denied any medical care while simultaneously making posts lionising those that sheltered Jews in WW2 without a hint of irony. Normality is long gone and won’t be returning any time soon. In fact the happenings in Ukraine will galvanise the other end of the authoritarian spectrum.
There are basically two types of culture. One of these is fear based cultures. There are a continuum of these with some being more fear based than others. The more fear based a culture is the greater the level of totalitarianism. Fear can be instilled in people.
The other type of culture runs counter to fear based culture. This type of culture is not a subculture within fear based culture. It is a culture that exists outside of and beyond consensus cultures. It's members are connected by similar beliefs, values, and perceptions. It's members form a separate consensus. While the members of this culture are much fewer in number than those who are members of the fear based cultures, their numbers have increased slowly but steadily and sometimes in big leaps.
The mass of humanity still lives in the darkness of fear based culture. Out on the horizon is something wonderous. A light has risen. It is the rising rays of a new culture. It is a culture that is based not on fear but on it's opposite. It is a culture based on Love. It is in this culture that the hope for humanity exists.
In the course of my daily work, I witness mask-wearing people struggling to make themselves understood, and struggling to understand, because of the acrylic screens still in place. The licenced sadism empowering retailers has now been relinquished by our venal and corrupt government, but the phenomenally ignorant retailers cannot bring themselves to ease up. Sickening, especially when they aim erroneous accusations of failure to respect their "vulnerability" at those who see masks as direct evidence of complicity in the fraud.
Thanks for drawing together the philosophies and academic thinking which will help us to claw back our humanity. You described people becoming 'docile' - the perfect word - allowing freewill to slip away, easily persuaded to accept the new norms of authoritarian rule to show that they are being good citizens. Perversely, as some people become weakened, I've found belief in my own values has become galvanised. It's exhausting, but the need to debate and demonstrate right from wrong, has never been more urgent.

i have been hearing this a lot lately due to the mass formation psychosis theory, i guess i must be an exception to the rule as i do not engage with other people often. i live in a town but i might as well be isolated in a hut in the woods for the amount of people i talk to.
my opinions on religion are atheistic and i think that helps because you dont lean on anything or anyone to tell you how to behave or what you should do. you develop a strong mind and conviction based on experience and learning.
I don’t think these ideas can be applied uniformly to all people. I leant on Jung’s work for this, and he talks about various kinds of meaning which can assist self-individualisation.

Individual acts of kindness done for purely altruistic reasons aren't that common but put up against the anti-vax haters shows that the good folk need community and the Godless need lockdown and masks.
A nurse refusing to let a man be with his dying wife is just unthinkable, how can a nurse who is supposed to be in the caring profession behave like that. I feel this kind of attitude is all to common in sections of the public sector, esp the NHS, which is a shame as it besmirches those staff that are good and do care. Incidentally had that been me they would have had to get the police to drag me out as there is no way I would have voluntarily allowed that to happen
