I watched about 15 minutes. Andromeda was the last straw. It gave me the creeps. The whole thing seemed like a tribute to evil.

But when you know the back story to Andromeda it's a completely different angle.

It was about the Armenian Genocide of Christian’s. The Turks killed, crucified and tortured Christians. Muslims used to kidnap Christian boys and turn them into Janisseries- soldiers who were sacrificed in the frontline. We should remember. Assyrians were massacred as well. So good for the Croatians. At least they remember history.

Eurovision now is like the last days of Caligula. The BBC'S obsession with drag queens put me off before I'd started but I did go online and vote for Israel as a matter of principle. I'm afraid Laura I feel you are too kind to people who support the Palestinian cause, particularly after the report published this week their moral compass is MIA.

Mary Whitehouse...

Heroine.

I'd rather live in her world than our world.

So would my wife.

And our four adult kids.

And most of the people we know.

Go and listen to this "mainstream" BBC R4 gem, from last Friday, about "queerbaiting"...

It's why I haven't paid the licence tax in decades. And never will ever again.

Haven’t watched it for years. Not since Terry Wogan stopped hosting! Appalling stuff. But a window into culture.

Exactly this! Who’d watch the BBC now? I do all I can to never watch it!

And Laura (yet again) another excellent commentary on our time, and pinpointing the spiritual realities behind it.

Evil is coming out from behind the curtains nowadays and strutting around openly and contemptuously.

And posing as virtue.

UTTER GARBAGE.

I could not watch it, just plain decadent.

I don't watch Eurovision as I like music.

Nevertheless, I turned the sound down and watched maybe ten minutes until my preferred programme started - Help! My House is Haunted!

Anyway, I have been trying to practice non-judgmentalism so I noticed that the Eurovision audience seemed to be happy and celebratory and I hoped it was because they enjoyed connecting with different cultures and acknowledging a variety of talents.

Having read your report (and thank you, Laura, for watching so we don't have to), I wonder if they were drugged?

You are quite right (though I didn't watch any Eurovision) about the complete collapse of European pride, morality and self respect. We are so far into the decadence stage that I don't think we can be saved. If we can it will only be by a supreme effort of will and determination and probably require Restore Britain to win the next election.

I didn't watch it, and haven't for years. The Eurovision Song Contest is perverted, brainwashing, Satanism, and what else do we expect from the BBC, from its beginnings - the BBC a propaganda and paedophilia driven instrument of murderous governments - and that's every government of every party. Beautifully observed Laura as always, keep up your wonderful work.

Yes...what happened to enjoying life..?

UK entry was embarrassing. UK points announcing drag queen was embarrassing. I would have given some of my votes to Croatia had I known the background of the tattoos. Israel got all 10 of my votes.

I would concur with your assessment... more loud and noisy devils than musical tributes... and lots of almost operatic and very strong voices whose music sounded oddly similar... and tuneless...

I liked Michelle and the Italian song and Croatia... banga ranga certainly got you moving but different good beats does not an actual song make...

Thank you for this examination and your work in general. I have to say I am completely, utterly fascinated by all things European. Newly acquired but nonetheless passionate it has been an education. Not in the literal sense, I am completely familiar with its geography, history, politics (some more than others) and other objective facets of the continent. I’ve actually been there.. I speak in a more qualitative sense……the feel of the place. An idea of the people and how they see the world. This discussion of the Eurovision competition, I too remember the whole ABBA phenomenon…….Fascinating. It makes me smile. There is a word recently coined in America ( perhaps even in Europe) that I am very fond of…”sonder”. It is the realization that EVERYONE you see on the street, in a store, on the subway or bus is experiencing a life just as vivid and meaningful as you are. They have memories, hopes, dreams, regrets, aspirations and fears just as tangible as you do. And you, as important as you are to your story, are just a background extra in their movie. I can’t help but think of it when I read of Britain, Europe and now…….Eurovision. Thanks again for the work and the lesson.

Thank you, that's very interesting.
