The whole EV situation is to force people off the roads - there isn't enough of the rare earth minerals on the planet to replace every combustion-engined car currently on the road with an EV. They want the roads to be the preserve of the rich. Which is why we should all stick with our ICE cars - well maintained they are capable of huge mileages today. EV's depreciate heavily and are no fun to drive - they only do "fast or faster" and that's not allowed! I run classic cars instead - they are fun, they bring a smile to people's faces and spark many a warm conversation with strangers in the car park or at the pump. Parts are cheap, repairs are possible and I am keeping many people in work, whilst enjoying my journeys!
On Sharia law, any sane, right-thinking person knows that this applies barbaric punishments and is totally the opposite of the equal rights so many have screamed for. It is delinquent to say the least and we should not tolerate those that seek to bring this kind of justice back - we did away with it centuries ago!
I really want a classic car - just old enough to not require an MOT or ULEZ would do me, although a classic 60s Jag E-Type would be divine! I wish I had kept my first ever car, a VW Polo with manual windows, manual everything, nice boxy corners, easy to park.
I have a 1972 Ford Cortina and a 1965 Ford Anglia - both combined cost me less than a 3-year old used family car, and even having had the Cortina restored it still works out cheaper than a new EV - and so much more fun!
Nudging works on enough people to trigger 'social proof' over how to behave. We saw this with mask wearing, but when people were in restaurants they put well used, crumpled masks on the table indicating 'revealed preferences' about how much they really believed the propaganda. Nudging can be overdone. EV owners will potentially join us anti-nudgers. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done unlike masks where we just refused to wear them. Enough people cottoned on to their real purpose of measuring compliance to edicts and as enough people stopped 'social proof' enabled others to stop wearing them. If enough EV owners refuse to cough up and so clog up the courts then it could go the way of the poll tax where rebellion overwhelmed possible enforcement. Thus the inportance of Ms Dodsworth books in alerting people and reassuring people they are not alone.
But they're starting to wonder, now that nothing makes sense unless you ascribe malicious motivation behind so many otherwise-bewildering government decisions....
I know many who are still in the "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity" brigade. The point they seem to miss is that some things simply are not explained, let alone adequately explained, by mere stupidity.
All this was conspiracy theory until recently people need to start taking a lot more interest in what is called a conspiracy theory. because they actually are the truth and the people who are saying it take more interest in what’s actually going on than the people who call it conspiracy theory.
IMO hiding things behind the label of conspiracy theory is simply a self-defence mechanism by which people refuse to face up to matters that frighten them.
We are being crushed financially into servitude and submission. It wasn’t long ago that everyone was rushing to swap to electric vehicles to bypass ULEZ, LEZ and road tax. Roll on 12 months and now all of you suckers that fell for it are going to be paying too. The elitists will be the only ones allowed to drive soon. Fat arse Starmer won’t be walking anywhere will he and look at Khan with his armoured vehicle and security detail following close behind and in front with their gas guzzlers. The hypocrisy is repulsive, especially as the Labour Party try to pass themselves off as the socialist and fair party on the side of the people. These are far worse than the conservatives ever were and they are not even disguising their rampant corruption and greed for the finer things in life. Eugh. We are in so much trouble right now and yet no one is calling them out and speaking for the people they are supposed to represent.
EV’s paying for roads like us is fine by me. In Australia we all pay for roads in our rego. Except EV owners. But Neverthless you are correct. The nudging towards not using our cars is happening. In Australia it is absurd to discourage cars. The distances are so great and go a lot of places the car is the only way to get there.
We have this phenomena in Australia of car parks out in the regions full of ev’s because the Chinese companies who make them collect tax breaks and subsidies from the government but hardly anyone wants to by them. They are entirely impractical in huge country with a dodgy energy system and hardly any charging stations.

How about a low-mileage 11-year old Jag....?
Thanks Laura.
We're all too bloody reasonable, we need to man up and fight, fight, fight against all this bullshit.
Meanwhile COP 30 will emit around 300,000 Co2 equivalent tons about the same as the ANNUAL emissions from a City the size of St.Albans !
Did you see the tres they cut down for it?
Yes Jillian, 100,000 mature trees cut down for a conference focusing on forest preservation-you couldn't make it up its totally insane !!

The reality of what is going on is beyond most people’s belief they have no idea what the end game is.
