All these ‘prizes ‘ and awards have been devalued over time. They have become meaningless. I no longer take any notice of them.

I understand the New York Times are still proud of the Pulitzer awarded to Walter Duranty for the lies he told about the USSR in the 30’s. Some things do not change.

Yep. The one they got for him writing that mass murder by starvation and execution was "breaking a few eggs to make an omelette":

Not a genocide. Hamas “poked the bear.”When those terrorists attacked and commenced a killing spree which included raping and burning entire communities they opened themselves up to this retribution—and videoed a lot of it! And time & time again Israel has called for a ceasefire IF all of the hostages are released. And time & time again Hamas refuses-to the destruction of their own people.

Not a genocide. It is justifiable retribution.

You're not alone in feeling this Laura, and I completely agree with you.

What the board of the Pulitzer Prize has done is way beyond disgusting and egregious - it is actually quite depraved, and it demonstrates the complete inability of anyone sitting on that board to a) distinguish truth from lies and b) to uphold a set of morals that distinguishes them from those that perpetrate evil.

Revolting.

Look at the Board that awarded this keyboard terrorist:

I think that it is safe to say that none of these people voted for Trump so there is zero political diversity of thought. People like that - Anne Applebaum being a good example - are incapable of seeing another point of view to their own.

The major media all serve the same government and wealthy, powerful masters, all are scribes of the state and industry. Same as it ever was. All is Yellow Journalism. When we understand that it becomes easier to understand why the biggest fictions and frauds are awarded the biggest prizes

Here's a fascinating presentation of Yellow Journalism. It's about environmentalism, but provides historical context. How the California Gold Rush, the origins of the Hearst news publishing empire and US foreign policy, national ambitions were all intertwined:

The Gold Rush: Behind the Hype

https://www.foundsf.org/index.php?title=The_Gold_Rush:_Behind_the_Hype

The biggest journalism lie of all or ever has been is that the news media is a 'Fourth Estate' holding the government accountable by exposing truth. They serve the powerful and government, positioned where the two meet. If they ever bite one of the hands that feeds them it is because the other hand is feeding them more.

Remember former NY Gov. Cuomo was awarded an Emmy for murdering hundreds of thousands of seniors in nursing homes in 2020 - because his daily press conferences were useful to attack Pres. Trump. The most audacious and murderous are rewarded.

All destructive and despotic regimes have their awards for service to the regime.

From the Nobel to the Pulitzer right down to the inane and frivolous “Oscars”, “awards” have been reduced to orgies of vainglorious elite mutual masturbation.

Anyone with even a scintilla of self-awareness would be embarrassed to be nominated for one, much less be awarded.

should not be a surprised. I think last year the New York Times chief covid/ vax propagandist fake reporter Aproova Mandevilli was awarded the Pulitzer for her disseminating middle school level covid idiocy. hence: meaningless award

Laura

your article headed Denial Distortion and Desecration lambasts the denial of three people killed on October 7th. Since that date the Israelis have killed upwards of a hundred thousand men women and children (the Lancet estimated a year ago that the figure was 62000) in reaction to this atrocity. Where is your condemnation of this gross overreaction?

I really can't get my head around your decision to write a furious article over the detail of three deaths, whilst never mentioning the genocide which was committed in response

Laura views the conflict in the Middle East very much from the Israelis perspective, the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent women and children notwithstanding.
